What you can expect from sessions with Olly

Olly's interest is in the quality of movement produced by his clients.  He has a keen eye for the detail of the body's form when performing an exercise.  His style of teaching is through gentle encouragement and the use of verbal cues and hands-on adjustments.  His aim is for his clients to make the movements, finding their own understanding to be able to repeat the exercise with precision. 

What happens in Pilates matwork classes

A typical group class consists of Pilates exercises designed to improve balance, posture, co-ordination and the strengthening of core muscles.

Variety and diversity of exercises are important to Olly - no two classes are the same!  

 

Mats and head cushions are provided but please bring your own if you would prefer.

 

What happens in Pilates studio classes

Before joining an "open studio" class whereby you will be part of a small group of people using apparatus, you will be required to have a series of 1:1 sessions in order to develop an understanding of the basics of the exercises.

 

Each session starts with a matwork-style warm up, followed by use of the apparatus to strengthen and integrate the upper and lower body, core and improve the mobility of the spine.  A matwork cool down completes the hour long session.

 

What to expect from 1:1 personal training sessions

The first stage in working together to achieve your goals is to discuss your objectives.  In this consultation session we will gain an understanding of your current physical health including a postural assessment.  This session involves some basic exercises so appropriate gym type clothing should be worn.

 

After this meeting Olly will develop a programme that works with your body to achieve your goals.  This programme will be amended to reflect your progress.

What to expect from private, small group classes

This will vary depending on the group's aims and abilities, which will be discussed at the consultation session.

 

Exclusive use of the fully equipped Pilates studio and private gym.
